Rendered Walls vs. Brick Walls in Home Construction

When it comes to choosing a wall material for your new home, you may have considered using either rendered walls or traditional brick walls. Each have their advantages and disadvantages, so there’s no one-size-fits-all when making this decision. To help make the best choice for your construction project, here’s an overview of both options and the pros and cons associated with each:

Rendered Walls: Rendered walls are made from cement, sand and water mixed together to create a mortar paste. This mixture is then spread over a wall and hardens when dry. Pros of rendered walls include being water resistant, fireproof, and less expensive than brick walls. They are also quicker to construct and don’t require as much maintenance as brick walls. However, rendered walls aren’t as sturdy as brick walls and can be more vulnerable to damage from the weather and movement of the earth.

Brick Walls: Brick walls are made from clay bricks which are stacked on top of each other using mortar. Brick walls are a more traditional choice for home building and have been used for hundreds of years. Pros of brick walls include the fact that they are strong, durable, and fire resistant. They are also able to provide better insulation than rendered walls. On the other hand, brick walls can be expensive to build, take longer to construct, and need a lot of maintenance.

Ultimately, when it comes down to choosing either rendered walls or brick walls for your home building project, it’s important to think about your budget, personal preferences, and the climate where you’re living. From there, you can make a more informed decision that will work best in your specific circumstances.
